Project goals
Project objective is to implement circular economy principles on farms by applying a biodegradable agricultural waste (BAW) processing technology based on anaerobic composting and the use of microbiological preparations, with the aim of producing a high-value-added organic fertiliser product. Project activities are organised into stages and sub-stages, covering the preparation of biodegradable waste, anaerobic fermentation trials, evaluation of the final product, and dissemination of project results.

Detailed summary
The project aims to implement a circular economy-based technology for processing biodegradable agricultural waste into a high-value organic fertiliser product. The project activities are organised into four main stages. In the first stage, suitable biodegradable agricultural waste streams will be identified, selected, prepared, and characterised by determining key technological parameters. The second stage will focus on the selection of microbiological formulations and the implementation of anaerobic fermentation trials. During this phase, the fermentation process, biological activity, and biogas generation will be monitored and evaluated. In the third stage, the final product will undergo laboratory analyses to assess its agrochemical, physical, and microbiological properties, as well as its potential to partially replace mineral fertilisers. The fourth stage will include an evaluation of the technology’s economic efficiency, the development of practical recommendations for farmers, and the dissemination of project results. Demonstration events will be organised on farms, while methodological guidelines, articles, and video materials will be prepared to promote the adoption of innovative biodegradable waste processing technologies in Lithuanian agriculture.
