Project goals
To implement and demonstrate an innovative solution for utilizing waste from flaxseed oil production (sediment, pomace) as an alternative feed component on sheep farms, with the aim of improving the fatty acid profile of sheep products—primarily meat, and milk where applicable— and to produce animal products that are more beneficial to human health.
Target group
Persons engaged in agriculture, food production, and forestry.
Detailed summary
The project aims to introduce and demonstrate the use of waste from flaxseed oil production as an alternative feed component in sheep farming, thereby improving the fatty acid profile of sheep meat and milk. Local by-products will be integrated into diets to increase the content of n-3 fatty acids and reduce the n-6/n-3 ratio. The demonstration will evaluate productivity, feed efficiency, and product quality under controlled conditions.
