Project goals
To implement an innovative individual antiparasitic treatment system on sheep farms in order to effectively reduce the use of drugs, improve animal health, and increase the economic performance and ecological sustainability of farms.
Target group
Sheep farmers and sheep farms, agricultural companies and cooperatives, veterinary specialists, entities operating in the field of animal health and bioeconomy
Detailed summary
The following project objectives are envisaged: 1. To develop and adapt a treatment system that would allow for real-time identification of individual treatment needs for each animal. 2. To integrate digitalised smart tools, including electronic tag readers, smart scales, drug dispensers and a virtual data analysis platform. 3. To optimise drug use, ensuring that each animal is given only the necessary dose, thereby reducing overall drug consumption and costs. 4. To increase farm efficiency and reduce labour costs by facilitating the antiparasitic treatment process and shortening the time required for it. 5. To reduce the environmental impact of antiparasitic drugs by reducing their residues entering soil and water bodies. 6. To prevent the development of parasite resistance by applying targeted treatment instead of the traditional “bed sheet” method. 7. Analyze and evaluate the results of the project implementation in order to demonstrate the benefits of the innovative system from an economic, environmental and animal health perspective.
