Project goals
To create a set of measures that allows farmers, taking into account the fertility, relief, and moisture content of cultivated fields, to choose the optimal mass of cultivated herbaceous plants and create conditions for monitoring plant vegetation processes with the help of digital technologies, ensuring timely harvesting, thus achieving the maximum amount of valuable nutrients in feed, improving the quality of produced milk, reducing the cost of production and the negative impact of the activities carried out on the environment.
Target group
Dairy farmers (especially grass-fed producers), livestock farmers managing meadows and pastures, farmers seeking to optimize feed production and reduce costs, agricultural consultants and agronomists
Detailed summary
To create a set of measures that allows farmers, taking into account the fertility, terrain, moisture content of cultivated fields, to select optimal mixtures of cultivated herbaceous plants and create conditions for monitoring plant vegetation processes with the help of digital technologies, ensuring timely harvesting, thus achieving the maximum amount of valuable nutrients in feed, improving the quality of produced milk, reducing the cost of production and the negative impact of the activities on the environment. The project aims to create a set of measures that allows farmers, taking into account the fertility, terrain, moisture content of cultivated fields, to select optimal mixtures of herbaceous plants and monitor plant vegetation, ensuring timely harvesting, thus ensuring the maximum amount of valuable nutrients in feed. Upon implementation of the project, recommendations for optimizing the production of herbaceous feeds will be prepared. The recommendations developed within the scope of the project and innovative satellite monitoring tools adapted for monitoring herbaceous plants will contribute "to the increase in the area of cultivated pastures, and the cultivation of high-quality grass feed mixtures, from which high-quality milk is produced, will encourage farmers to farm more sustainably, reduce dairy farms' costs for feed and contribute to the reduction of GHG emissions. The use of satellite technologies will allow farms to reduce production costs (time, fuel) and ensure an optimal grass feed preparation process, identify problem meadow areas and choose the optimal time for cutting grass plants, ensuring maximum grass feed quality.
